After a few years had passed and an enormous number of tests had come out inconclusive only one option had remained. My beloved grandmother that had always acted and felt like a teen had crumbled into a saddened and exhausted person that only resembled Nefeli. To get to the point, she was diagnosed with ALS, a condition which is up until today non curable. Thus came the big readjustments of furniture and basic facilities in order to assist as much as possible to her needs. This series of photographic documentation came to life at the time where everyone felt unable to accept the truth. It was, let’s say, the first step towards accepting our new way of life. The series did not progress as planned as I aimed to focus not only on early stages but the years to come as well. I stopped documenting the progression of this journey when both my family and I were about to lose her. I can only wish that this series touches its viewers and provokes awareness, as well as comfort, to people that go through difficult times and hide their emotions within.
